This homeschooling thing is new to a lot of us, and if you are like me, you are trying to get an arsenal ready so the boredom doesn’t get too bad and an in house riot doesn’t ensure. One of the first things I did was go and get small Chromebook for my kids. We have my computer that I use for work and I didn’t even want to think about managing all of our time online. You can get the smaller Chromebooks for around $200 a piece and my kids are thrilled to have their own computers – winning!!!
To help give some structure I made up a schedule to try to follow (as seen below) and have it front and center on my fridge. Along with this, I have a check mark system I instituted to try to keep fighting to a minimum and to make sure we try to stay on schedule. 1 check is a warning, 2 you lose dessert, 3 30 minutes early to bed and 4, an hour early to bed.
With their chrome books, we have quiet time in the afternoon where they can be on their electronics. They can’t go and scroll through YouTube, but from the list below there are dozens of links to explore museums, national parks, beaches, zoos etc. For fun, there are also some links for rides where you can pretend you are actually at the park and riding on them now. Check them out and let me know if there are any others that I may have missed that need to be added. Hopefully this is a great resource to keep your sanity and your kids interested and learning things without realizing it. Don’t forget to check out some of the recipes on my site as well that are fun to be interactive with the whole family! Need some good snack options since kids eat 24/7 when they are at home? Check out this cheat sheet I made before!
